Is Stormbreaker a hammer or an axe?

In the MCU, Stormbreaker and Mjolnir look completely different; Mjolnir is a square hammer, and Stormbreaker is an axe with a hammer-ish end. In the comics, however, the original Stormbreaker is a rounded mallet, and much smaller than the movie version.

Is Thors axe the same as the hammer?

Although Stormbreaker and Mjolnir have very similar properties and powers, Stormbreaker is the most powerful weapon out of the two for Thor to wield. The obvious reasons are that Stormbreaker is the physically larger weapon out of the two, and not to mention that it is an axe, which is more dangerous than a hammer.

Who built Stormbreaker?

In the comics, the Stormbreaker was created by Odin as a weapon for Beta Ray Bill, after he returned Mjølnir to Thor. The Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Stormbreaker shares similarities with the Mjølnir of the Ultimate Universe such as the tip of the hammer.

Why does stormbreaker use blue fire?

Though Stormbreaker has extra powers like summoning the Bifrost and has no worthiness enchantment like Mjolnir, the Studio/movie execs decided to give Stormbreaker blue fire to visually differentiate both of them. Mjölnir has lightning coming out of it and wrapping it, and Stormbreaker’s thing is the flames.

This comes via Groot, who, in a moment of peril, sacrifices some of his own bark to help finish the weapon.

As well as this increased power, the comic Stormbreaker has a much more intense effect on anyone who tries to hold it despite not being worthy. If someone unworthy attempts to grab Thor’s original hammer, they simply cannot pick it up – very Sword in the Stone level stuff.
