Is the 777 and 787 the same type rating?

A B777/787 type rating can be conducted either as a Standard Transition B777/787 Type Rating or as a Boeing Reduced Training Course to the B787. Note: The B777 is a common Type Rating with the B787. Therefore, when a pilot gets qualified on either aircraft, the endorsement on his/her licence is B777/787.

Why is the 787 so special?

The use of composite materials in the wing structure allows the 787 wing to have a higher aspect ratio (the square of the wing span divided by the wing area) than previous aircraft.

Is the 787 more efficient than the A350?

In a two-class configuration, the A350 can handle more passengers than the 787. Thus, if it’s the amount of passengers you can ferry, the A350 is the clear winner. However, if efficiency is point of concern, the 787 comes on top. The A350 definitely has the longer range, but the 787 simply utilises the fuel better.
