Is the M16A3 still used?
The M16A1’s improvements include a bolt-assist, chrome-plated bore and a 30-round magazine. In 1983, the US Marine Corps adopted the M16A2 rifle and the US Army adopted it in 1986….M16 rifle.

Who uses M16A3?
The M16A3 uses the small, but accurate, 5.56x45mm cartridge. Like all Assault Rifles in BF3, it can reach out to long ranges. The standard-issue weapon for US soldiers (but with slightly less powerful rounds than it’s Russian counterpart, the AK-74M), it has a high rate of fire and a light polymer construction.
Is there an M16A3?
The M16A3, which was introduced in 1994, is basically an M16A2 with full-automatic capability and optional M4A1-style Rail Interface System (RIS). The M16A3 and the M16A4 are identical in appearance to the M16A2, but both have the modular upper receiver.

What happened to the XM8?
While the XM8 was being considered by the United States Army as a potential standard infantry rifle, to replace the M4 carbine, this project was put on hold in April 2005, and was formally canceled on October 31 of that year. The weapon was adopted by the Royal Malaysian Navy for its PASKAL special forces.
