Is the traveler real destiny?

As of yet its true nature is unknown. The Traveler is credited with humanity’s survival during the Collapse of the Golden Age. After the Traveler sacrificed itself to save humanity, it remained floating not far from the Earth’s surface, and became silent and dormant.

What happened to the speaker of the traveler?

The Speaker dies, shortly after admitting that he was pretty much lying about being the voice of the Traveler all along. Gaul turns into a giant-Gaul made of Light. The Traveler nukes him and shatters itself in the process, sending Light out far beyond the solar system.

When The Guardian and the Vanguard fought to recapture The City from the Red Legion, The Speaker was released from his restraints by The Consul and died.

How did the traveler get damaged?

Dominus Ghaul attempted and failed to win the Traveler’s approval and make him into a Guardian, and simply took the Light by force. When he gloated in front of the Traveler, the Traveler suddenly broke its cage and destroyed Ghaul, as well as slowly healing itself by drawing fragments back into itself.

The Traveler appeared to regenerate itself by drawing in energy from all around it, brightening the skies as it healed.
