Is there a difference between AQA and Edexcel?

Posted on September 5, 2021 by Author

Is there a difference between AQA and Edexcel?

Key differences The AQA papers are equally weighted, putting less pressure on students to do better in one than the other. Edexcel’s two papers are split 40\%/60\% and have a greater emphasis on persuasive and instructional writing. Edexcel offer students a choice of writing questions on both papers.

AQA is the largest examination board for GCSEs and GCE A Levels in England.

Edexcel (also known since 2013 as Pearson Edexcel) is a British multinational education and examination body formed in 1996 and wholly owned by Pearson plc since 2005.

How does Aqa compare to ededexcel?

Edexcel was a little more badly worded this year than AQA I think, but the problems set were much of a muchness on difficulty (except the rogue Edexcel final question on paper 1) – paper 3 seemed very even between them. Do the GCSE results show which exam boards were used?

How difficult is Edexcel compared to textbooks?

See what is in your textbook and if any of it is on the AQA specification. You might find a lot of it not very useful. Generally Edexcel is known to be more difficult in Science/Mathematics subjects so you might find some of it too in-depth but some information missing.

Is ededexcel harder this year than last?

Edexcel seemed to be much harder this year. It may mean that AQA is harder next year though. Do the GCSE results show which exam boards were used? I’m wondering how comparable the results are with so many different exam boards and exam types (foundation, higher etc)..

How hard is it to pass the AQA exam?

If Edexcel papers are difficult but you only need 50\% to pass, AQA papers are easier but you need 70\% to pass (numbers completely made up), then you have to take that into consideration.
