Is there anything in the void of space?

Radio astronomers have found the biggest hole ever seen in the universe. The void, which is nearly a billion light years across, is empty of both normal matter and dark matter. The finding challenges theories of large-scale structure formation in the universe.

What fills the void of space?

I mean ordinary space itself, the inner space between particles everywhere—what we used to call empty space or vacuum. Scientists think that this acceleration is propelled by what they call “dark energy,” which fills and refills that ever-expanding void of intergalactic space.

Does dark matter exist in space?

Dark matter is the name scientists have given to the particles which we believe exist in the universe, but which we cannot directly see! Dark matter was initially called “missing matter” because astronomers could not find it by observing the universe in any part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Is the void really empty?

Of course, the voids are not entirely empty. There are some dim, scattered dwarf galaxies floating around inside these mostly empty areas. And dark matter and some hydrogen managed to cling to life inside those empty, parched stretches. But by and large, the voids really are void.

Are black holes voids?

According to the Einstein-Straus model, after the formation of the black hole the matter around it expands in a comoving way leading to the formation of an empty region between it and the rest of the universe. As the central black hole cannot be seen, the whole region appears as a void to an external observer.

Is void possible?

Cosmic voids are vast spaces between filaments (the largest-scale structures in the universe), which contain very few or no galaxies. Hence, although even the emptiest regions of voids contain more than ~15\% of the average matter density of the Universe, the voids look almost empty for an observer.

Does the void of outer space exist as matter?

The void of outer space does not exist as matter; it is before space-time, before the Big Bang, Inflation, a CMB… etc. It is not matter, therefore, notions like motion, size or duration are not applicable, and time does not apply.

What is the Vacuum Void Beyond Space-Time?

The total vacuum void beyond space-time, does not exist as matter; it must be before space-time, before the Big Bang, Inflation, a CMB. etc. It is not matter, therefore, notions like motion, size or duration are not applicable, and time does not apply. It is outside the rules of space-time.

What would happen if you put matter in space-time?

You get empty space. Matter is made of fields and fields are little more than apparitions. Fields are shapes in empty space, lines of force. Matter is an illusion, but that is reality. Matter in space-time is the one drawing the shapes, not some creator or designer.

Why is there no vacuum in space?

By definition, a vacuum is devoid of matter. Space is almost an absolute vacuum, not because of suction but because it’s nearly empty. That emptiness results in an extremely low pressure. And while it’s impossible to emulate the emptiness of space on Earth, scientists can create extremely low pressure environments called partial vacuums.
