Is TRN and Arn number same?

TRN: Once the new user has registered in gst.gov.in , the entity will get a TRN (Temporary Reference Number) . ARN: the entity will get the ARN (Application Reference Number), after successful submission of GST Registration Application.

How can I cancel a TRN number in GST?

Procedure

  1. A registered person can submit an application for revocation of cancellation, in form GST REG-21, if his registration has been cancelled suo moto by the proper officer.
  2. He must submit it within 30 days from the date of service of the cancellation order at the Common Portal.

Can we use TRN number as GST number?

Go to official GST portal – https://www.gst.gov.in/ and under the services tab, choose Services > Registration > New Registration. To use this number, either click Proceed or Services > Registration > New Registration option and select the Temporary Reference Number (TRN) radio button to login using the TRN.

What if TRN is expired in GST?

There is no provision to re-activate the expired TRN. You will have to apply for a fresh registration on GST portal. Expired TRN cannot be regenerated. You need to reapply for the same.

It must be noted that ARN can also be used in the future course of GST. ARN will help existing taxpayers to migrate them into new Goods and Service Tax (GST).
