Is type rating done after Cpl?

It can be said that CPL holders must attain further training to be able to fly such more complex aircraft! Type rating is this additional training provided to CPL holders! The training consists of ground classes, simulator training and aircraft familiarization.

What is required to get a type rating?

In the United States, a type rating is required to act as pilot in command (PIC) of any aircraft that exceeds 12,500 pounds maximum takeoff weight (MTOW). Type ratings are issued via traditional checkrides. The pilot must pass an oral exam and a flight test before the rating can be issued.
