Is USC film program good?

The USC School of Cinematic Arts has more connections in the entertainment industry than all of the other schools combined (and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in front of the school to prove it). USC’s Los Angeles location helps make it a top film school.

Is USC Cinematic Arts hard to get into?

It’s very hard. It’s not impossible though. It takes real dedication and careful preparation. You don’t need any prior experience in filmmaking but you will need stellar grades, excellent written submissions, and very good letters of recommendation.

Does USC have a screenwriting program?

First, it had a screenwriting program. To my knowledge, USC is one of the few film schools that offers Screenwriting as an undergraduate degree instead of a graduate degree. Second, USC emphasizes knowing all the aspects of filming. They want their students to not simply be great writers, but overall great filmmakers.

Is screenwriting hard to get into?

It’s extremely, extremely difficult. Not too many people making movies. Lots of people writing screenplays. If you’re aiming for a full-length Hollywood feature, then the odds of reaching that with your first or second screenplay are pretty much infinitesimal.

What GPA is required for USC?

3.79 GPA
To have the best shot of getting in, you should aim for the 75th percentile, with a 1530 SAT or a 34 ACT. You should also have a 3.79 GPA or higher. If your GPA is lower than this, you need to compensate with a higher SAT/ACT score.

For screenwriters who are great at what they do, there is big money to be made. “Screenwriters can make as little as $25,000 to $30,000 a year doing very small jobs if they’re members of the WGA. They can make millions of dollars a year if they are an in-demand screenwriter willing to do rewrites.

Is USC engineering hard?

It is a pretty tough program but you can get through and thrive if you are willing to put in the hours. Professors grade pretty tough and you won’t see most of the class having a 4.0 GPA like other programs.

USC Marshall offers students the unique opportunity to complete coursework in both the School of Cinematic Arts and the Marshall School of Business.
