Is Waterpik better than string flossing?

While water flossers do a great job of removing food particles and rinsing away plaque by shooting a stream of water between your teeth, they cannot replicate the scraping motion of string floss that removes tartar-causing plaque that can eventually cause gum disease.

Should I floss or Waterpik first?

You can use tap water in your WaterPik flosser, however if you have hard water you may have to clean your machine more often to remove hard water deposits. Hard water deposits can gather inside the flosser and reduce water pressure. They can also gather in the flossing tip which will also reduce water pressure.

How long should you use a WaterPik?

For best results, we recommend water flossing for one minute each day. As you use your water flosser over the next few weeks, you can gradually increase the water pressure to your preference. Fill the reservoir with warm water and place firmly on the base. Select a tip and click into the handle.
