On the edition of March 25, 2002 of Raw, the World Wrestling Federation had the first time ever WWF draft lottery, which meant the WWF superstars are separated between two brands, Raw and SmackDown!. This became effective from April 1, 2002 on Raw, thus leading to a brand new era, and ending the Attitude Era.
Why did WWE stop the Attitude Era?
The Attitude Era had both aspects, and after beating both rivals in the Monday Night Wars, the WWF bought over WCW and ECW. With no competition left, there was no need for the Attitude Era. Instead, WWE decided to tone down the violence a bit and transition into the Ruthless Agression Era.
