What can I do with MIT OpenCourseWare?
MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) makes the course materials that are used in the teaching of almost all MIT’s undergraduate and graduate subjects available on the Web, free of charge, to any user anywhere in the world. Available online at http://ocw.mit.edu, OCW is a large-scale, Web-based publication of MIT course materials.
Does MIT accept online degrees?
MIT doesn’t offer online degrees, but we have world-class educational opportunities available to everyone online for free. MIT also offers its course materials for free via OpenCourseWare, which publishes virtually all MIT course content. OCW is open and available to the world.
Does MIT give free certificates?
Anyone can learn for free from MITx courses. They are open to learners worldwide and have already reached millions. Earning a certificate of completion costs a low fee and may entail completing additional assessments.
Does MIT accept edX credit?
While most courses don’t offer academic credit directly through edX at this time, we partner with a variety of institutions to offer credit-eligible courses. The individual credit courses which may be available are: MIT – Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python (Charter Oak State College Credit)
Does MIT accept older students?
We don’t have any age limits or restrictions. If you’ve been away from high school for a while, we would expect to see the results of your standardized tests, Secondary School Report, evaluations from teachers/employers and other supportive materials that would assist us in getting to know you.
Is MIT open curriculum?
MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a free, publicly accessible, openly-licensed digital collection of high-quality teaching and learning materials, presented in an easily accessible format.
Does MIT accept edX courses?
MIT will continue to offer courses to learners worldwide via edX, as well as on a new platform now known as MITx Online. MIT faculty may choose to continue to offer their courses through the new edX after the transaction is completed, or move them to MITx Online.
Is MIT free for international students?
At MIT a graduate fellowship provides partial or full tuition fees to international students along with a stipend to cover living expenses. The fellowship amount may be upto 4000 USD. For a few graduate programs, MIT also awards need-based scholarship programs.
Is MIT OpenCourseWare an interactive experience with MIT faculty?
MIT OpenCourseWare is intended as a publication of MIT course materials, not as an interactive experience with MIT faculty. MIT OpenCourseWare does not offer users the opportunity for direct contact with MIT faculty. It provides the content of – but is not a substitute for – an MIT education.
Can I get a certificate for a course I took at MIT?
Except for students admitted to MIT and enrolled at the Institute, MIT does not authorize the granting of any kind of degree, certificate, or other recognition for participation in or completion of any course of study based on or using published MIT course materials.
What is it like to take ASE exams at MIT?
It’s essentially like taking the final before the class begins. If you do well you get to keep your grade on the ASE as your grade in the class; if you do poorly, you can simply take the class and the bad grade disappears. No one will ever hold your education back at MIT, and you will never exhaust our curriculum of hard, interesting classes.
Why don’t you give credit for advanced coursework?
We love to see that students have challenged themselves in high school and have taken advantage of their opportunities. However, we don’t commonly award credit for advanced coursework, generally because we prefer to make sure that all of our students start with equal footing.
