What did the RAF do during the evacuation of Dunkirk?

Role of the RAF in the Dunkirk Evacuation The British government had decided to seize an opportunity to start a mass evacuation of their troops. While over 800 small boats volunteered to help bring the troops home, the RAF had the duty of protecting the shores and providing shelter over the evacuation.
