Should a freshman in college have a car?
Some schools discourage students from having cars on campus. The school explains that keeping freshman on their feet makes them more involved in on-campus activities, and it also reserves parking space for upperclassmen. Then again, many colleges do encourage you to bring your car.

- Writing Utensils. This can be anything you want: pencils, pens, markers, etc.
- Notebooks. There are a variety of notebooks you can use.
- Required textbooks.
- A planner or a small notebook.
- iCard.
What do I need to submit to apply to BYU?
Applicants will need to submit a transcript for any concurrent college credit received. Any international work must be submitted through IERF or WES. See Evaluating International Work for more information. BYU will only accept official US-accredited transcripts without an evaluation.
How do I get health insurance as a BYU student?
Students enrolled 3/4 time or more (9-semester credits/4.5-term credits) must have health insurance coverage year-round. You are automatically enrolled in BYU’s Student Health Plan one week before classes start if private insurance has not been reported. You will have access to waive the plan about one month before classes start.
What is NSO at BYU?
New Student Orientation (NSO) is the first event held for you when you arrive on campus. It includes tours, social activities, learning about your major and special interest programs (e.g. Honors, Pre-med), and BYU traditions like the Y Class Photo. My Financial Center is BYU’s online financial system.
How long does it take to get orientation to BYU?
