What does AMG model mean?

Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach
Altogether, the AMG® stands for “Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach.” Which makes a bit more sense than some of the other explanations car shoppers had come up with! The AMG® trims are higher trims in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, and generally have more power, better performance, and more features than a trim that is not AMG®.

What does AMG line mean?

The letters “AMG” stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach. Aufrecht and Melcher were the original founders of AMG and Großaspach was Aufrecht’s birth place. Today, AMG represents the highest standard of Mercedes-Benz, whether the slick styling of the AMG Line trim, or the roaring power of an AMG engine.

How do you identify an AMG?

The most obvious is the AMG lettering. A little detail is the AMG lettering on top of the exhaust pipes. You will find it on all AMG vehicles (except the A 45 AMG without the optional AMG sports exhaust system). You will not find the quad sports exhaust system or the AMG lettering on the exhaust pipes on the A45 AMG.

What is the AMG Black series?
