What happens if I fail IB diploma?
What if a student fails one of his/her IB exams? Students not earning the IB Diploma will receive an IB Certificate for each IB course and exam completed successfully. Students may retake an IB exam if they wish, in order to raise a failing score to a passing one.
Is the IB diploma a certificate?
Students can take individual IB classes and earn a certificate of completion for each class (with a score of 4 or higher) or can be IB diploma students, which is a 2-year program for juniors and seniors.

To gain either an IIB certificate in teaching and learning or an IB advanced certificate in teaching and learning research, simply enroll in a program of study at one of our IB-recognized universities. Upon completion of your program of study, you may register for the applicable certificate with the IB.
Can you retake IB tests?
If a candidate wishes to retake a subject, he/she can do this in any future examination session and at any IB World School offering the Diploma Programme. In addition, an IB World School is under no obligation to accept retake candidates.

If you don’t pass your IB exam, you can always retake it in November. Talk to your IB coordinator or councillor at your school to see how to do it. Not all schools offer exams in November, so you might have to go travel to find a school that does.

If you have more than three scores of grade 3, you will also fail the Diploma. These are called failing conditions. There are other failing conditions, but they are irrelevant for now. You can retake your subjects, but only in 2 examination cycles.
