What happens if you kill an ant colony?

The answer is obvious: the colony dies. Ants won’t flee to another territory if their queen passes away. Instead, they continue bringing resources back to the settlement until they die of old age or external causes.

A queen ant ensures the survival of the colony because she is responsible for creating its members. Depending on her species, a queen can lay hundreds up to a thousand eggs a day.
