What if beneficiary name is wrong but account number is correct?

While it is compulsory to mention the name of the beneficiary and the IFSC code, the reliance for transferring money is only on the account number. So, if you accidentally put one digit wrong and it doesn’t correspond to the account holder’s name, the transaction can still go through and the money can be transferred.

Does beneficiary name matter in Neft?

In terms of the extant Procedural Guidelines for RTGS / NEFT / NECS / ECS Credit, however, banks are generally expected to match the name and account number information of the beneficiary before affording credit to the account.

What will happen if I put the wrong beneficiary name and right account number in Neft?

If you happened to enter a wrong account number and if the number you entered does not exist, the amount will automatically reversed to your account. However, if the account number (someone else’s account) you typed in incorrectly does exist, the transaction will take place and it cannot be reversed.

How to check beneficiary account name in Neft?

When we go for NEFT, there’s no way to check the beneficiary account name. You need to enter the name but it won’t get cross checked. The amount will get credited. As everybody have mentioned NEFT will fail due name mismatch and it will get reverted back to source account.

Can money be remitted but show wrong beneficiary name in statement?

However if the account number is correct and IFSC code too then money will be remitted but will show a wrong beneficiaries name in your account statement.
