What is a partial IB program?
Partial. IB students can obtain the IB Diploma (Full IB) or IB Certificates (Partial IB). The difference between the two is that IB Diploma students must take at least 6 IB courses in at least 5 groups, with at least three courses at the higher level (this is explained further in Choosing Courses).

The IB Diploma Programme is offered during grades 11 and 12 with students completing a pre-IB year in grade 10. Students preparing to enter the Pre-International Baccalaureate Programme should have high marks in Grade 9 (at least an 80\% average).
What is the difference between partial and full IB in Alberta?
Alberta: Upon completion, you will receive the Alberta high school diploma. Partial IB: Upon completion, you will receive the Alberta high school diploma and the IB certificate for courses you took in IB. Full IB: Upon completion, you will receive the Alberta high school diploma and the IB diploma.
What is a full IB Diploma?
Full IB is a diploma program that requires you to take all core courses in IB, in addition to writing essays and completing CAS (reflection on extracurricular activities and social involvement) and TOK (a half-semester course analyzing how you think and learn).
What is the IB exam?
1. IB or International Baccalaureate is a non-profit educational institution that was founded in 1968. Its programs are for children aged 3-19. It does not have any formal examinations. Instead, it issues certificates to students who fulfil their standards.
Are IB courses harder than regular courses?
IB courses are usually harder than regular Alberta courses in two areas: There is a larger volume of deeper concepts students must learn in a shorter period. The workload is larger and can be stressful. Within the IB program, there are also two options: full IB or partial IB.
