What is ARHD positive?

If you’re rhesus positive (RhD positive), it means that a protein (D antigen) is found on the surface of your red blood cells. Most people are RhD positive. If you’re rhesus negative (RhD negative), you do not have the D antigen on your blood cells.

Is Rhesus positive a good thing?

Rh positive is the most common blood type. Having an Rh negative blood type is not an illness and usually does not affect your health. However, it can affect your pregnancy. Your pregnancy needs special care if you’re Rh negative and your baby is Rh positive (Rh incompatibility).

What is the significance of the Rh blood group?

The significance of the Rh blood group is related to the fact that the Rh antigens are highly immunogenic. In the case of the D antigen, individuals who do not produce the D antigen will produce anti-D if they encounter the D antigen on transfused RBCs (causing a hemolytic transfusion reaction, HTR) or on fetal RBCs (causing HDN).
