What is BWP switch?

BWP Switching Delay Changing BWP (Switching BWP) is the process of changing huge set of configurations. So it would need at least a certain amount of time to complete the switching. This time delay can be illustrated as follows based on 38.133-8.6.2.

What is BWP in NR?

Impact of Bandwidth Part (BWP) Switching on 5G NR System Performance. Abstract: Bandwidth Parts (BWPs) is a 5G NR feature introduced in 3GPP Release 15 for dynamically adapting the carrier bandwidth and numerology in which a UE operates. BWP allows supporting multiple services per carrier, e.g. eMBB and mMTC.

What is BWP in 5G?

One of the basic concepts in 5G NR is bandwidth part (BWP), which is, at a high level, a set of contiguous resource blocks configured inside a channel bandwidth.

What is initial BWP?

Initial BWP is used to performs Initial Access Process. It includes Parameters like RMSI (Requested Minimum System Information), CORESET* and RMSI Frequency location/bandwidth/SCS. It can be 24~96 PRBs with different settings and relaxed to wider BWP after RMSI decoding.

Why is BWP needed?

BWP enable more flexibility in how resources are assigned in a given carrier. Bandwidth parts are really about providing flexibility so that multiple, different signal types can be sent in a given bandwidth. Most base stations can utilize the wider bandwidths available in 5G.

What is SSB in 5G?

SS Block(SSB) stands for Synchronization Signal Block and in reality it refers to Synchronization/PBCH block because Synchnronization signal and PBCH channel are packed as a single block that always moves together. Synchronization Signal : PSS (Primary Synchronization Signal), SSS (Secondary Synchronization Signal)

What is Dmrs 5G?

Demodulation Reference Signal (DMRS) The DMRS is specific for specific UE, and used to estimate the radio channel.

What is BWP bandwidth part?

A Bandwidth Part (BWP) is a contiguous set of physical resource blocks (PRBs) on a given carrier. These RBs are selected from a contiguous subset of the common resource blocks for a given numerology (u). It is denoted by BWP.

How do you calculate RB from 5G?

The following table summarises the maximum number of RBs for each channel bandwidth and subcarrier spacing (refer to 38.101)….5G NR: Resource Blocks.

µ SCS Bandwidth per RB = 12 x SCS
2 60 kHz 720 kHz
3 120 kHz 1440 kHz
4 240 kHz 2880 kHz

What is SS burst?

SSBs is transmitted in a batch by forming an SS Burst (one SSB per beam) that is used during beam sweeping by changing beam direction for each SSB transmission. Beam Sweeping mechanism is used by UE to measure and identifies the best beam for a UE. A collection of SS Bursts is referred to as an SS Burst Set.

What is SSS EPRE?

EPRE indicate power for one resource element (RE). This can be used for any channel (e.g, Reference Signal, PDSCH etc). This value does not vary with system bandwidth or number of RBs.

What are the different types of BWP?

There are several different types of BWPs : Initial BWP, firstActiveBWP, Default BWP and (regular) BWPs. These are defined in RRC message as follows.

Can the initial BWP configuration be used with UL/DL BWP?

If the dedicated part of initial UL/DL BWP configuration is absent, the initial BWP can be used but with some limitations. For example, changing to another BWP requires RRCReconfiguration since DCI format 1_0 doesn’t support DCI-based switching.

What is carrier bandwidth part (BWP)?

Carrier Bandwidth Part is a contiguous set of physical resource blocks, selected from a contiguous subset of the common resource blocks for a given numerology(u) on a given carrier. It can be illustrated as below. NOTE : Maximum 4 BWP can be specified in DL and UL.

What is the difference between ingress bandwidth profile and EBS?

Frames that do not conform to either the CIR/CBS or the EIR/EBS are dropped. There are two types of bandwidth profiles: Ingress Bandwidth Profile – limits the rates of frames entering the CEN. Egress Bandwidth Profile – limits the rate of frames egressing the CEN and thus protecting overload towards the egress CE.
