What is considered good BHP?
Generally, you’ll be able to feel the speed of the car with anything more than above 200 horsepower. Volkswagen’s Golf GTI, for example, has upwards of 245 horsepower. Cars with power ratings above 300 horsepower will usually be serious performance vehicles, and modern supercars will have more than 500 horsepower.
How important is horsepower?
Horsepower is an important specification for buyers to consider, as it speaks directly to performance. For a given vehicle, an engine with more horsepower and more torque will accelerate more quickly — important for drivers who frequently use freeway on-ramps — and offer greater towing reliability.
What is the difference between BHP and torque in a bike?
Bhp is almost same for every cycle it depends upon engine design. Torque can be defined as pulling capacity of bikes. Torque depends upon the gears, lower(1st,2nd) gears are used for high torque and higher gears(3rd,4th) are used for low torque.
What is the bhp of 20 lb ft of torque?
Suppose in a bike 20 lb ft torque is available at the wheels at 5000 rpm so the BHP will be (torque*rpm)/5252 = 19.04 . For another bike let us assume that the same torque is available at 6000 rpm so the BHP will be (torque*rpm)/5252=22.84 .
Why is the bhp of a diesel engine 456?
Because a Diesel produces its power at say 2000 RPM, it’s BHP figure would be rated at 152BHP, meaning that although it’s a very strong engine, it cannot use that power very quickly. The petrol engine makes 400Nm at 6000RPM so the formula gives us 456BHP.
How much BHP does a VTEC produce at 4700 rpm?
Now using the formula (bhp = torque * rpm/5252) we get 97.34 * 4700 /5252 = 87.10 bhp. So the Vtec produces 87.10 bhp at 4700 rpm. IMO the ideal torque curve would be if an engine were to produce max torque as low as 2000 rpm and keep it there for as long as possible.
