What is EPO foam made of?
Expanded Polyolefin EPO is a molded plastic foam material that is created by engineering polyolefin into small beads and then using heat to mold it into different shapes. EPO is very durable and tough. It is commonly used in making model airplanes and automobile parts, because it is very resilient to damage.
Can I make foam board waterproof?
The clear sealer was the best by far in protecting the foam board as it fully encompased all edges creating a protective casing. This is very promising as it means that it can almost completly protect normal foam board from water damage.
What foam board is waterproof?
Polyiso and extruded polystyrene foam boards have the strongest waterproof properties. What is this? Foam boards that are treated with a foil vapor barrier are the best in terms of preventing moisture from reaching surfaces.
What is the difference between EPO and EPP foam?
EPP has similar characteristics as EPO, but it is more elastic and flexible. It can be bent and molded into shapes without breaking. EPP is a lighter foam than EPO. This characteristic makes it preferred over other types of foam, especially when building model airplanes.
What kind of foam should I use to build an airplane?
Believe it or not, the foam I used to build my first airplane was Depron (depronfoam.com). This turned out to be fortunate because Depron is easy to work with. It cuts well with a sharp X-Acto knife and it’s easy to tape, sand, and glue.
