What is living in strife?
Strife can be defined as bickering, discord, antagonism, or quarreling. Strife is bitterness (sometimes violence) over a fundamental problem. satan uses strife against families, relationships, friendships, co-workers, organizations, churches, nations, countries, etc. Strife can divide and destroy anything great.
What does the Bible say about hardship and suffering?
Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Deuteronomy 31:6,8 Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.
How does the Holy Spirit help us overcome sin?
The Holy Spirit works in us by peeling away our sinful characteristics and replacing them with godly characteristics. His work in us makes us more and more like Jesus. Just as Acts 1:8 mentions, the Holy Spirit empowers Christians to be effective witnesses for Jesus Christ.

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want.

Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Psalm 34:17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles. Isaiah 30:15 In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.

For those of us who find ourselves travelling on a spiritual path, it can be very common to experience a few “growing pains” on our journey. Things which hurt beyond belief, but which always result in more clarity, wisdom, and a deeper perspective. Identifying these common struggles of the spiritual path can be helpful.
Are you getting discouraged in the spiritual race?
Otherwise, we are likely to get discouraged in the spiritual race. Struggle is not an anomaly for the Christian. While struggle may not define us, it is part of what it means to run. Most of us understand there are times when you are engaged in work that makes your muscles ache. After a certain amount of exertion, you begin to feel inspired.
Are You on a conscious spiritual path?
While many people are on a conscious spiritual path in the world today, there are many who remain in the dark about their true nature. Becoming more spiritually minded can expose you to quite a bit of ridicule for being different. Being mocked, made fun of, and bullied is just a part of being away in a world that is asleep.
Do we have to struggle to be free?
The gospel indicative (that we don’t have to struggle to be free) precedes the gospel imperative (that we are freed now to struggle). We shouldn’t expect to feel the “runner’s high” all the time while we run the race. The spiritual life will often feel difficult.
