What is rate splitting multiple access?

Abstract: Rate-Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA) is a general and powerful multiple access framework for downlink multiantenna systems, and contains Space-Division Multiple Access (SDMA) and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) as special cases.

Is Noma efficient in multi antenna networks?

The first takeaway message is that, while NOMA is suited for single-antenna settings (as originally intended), it is not efficient in most multi-antenna deployments.

What is Rate splitting?

Rate-Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA) is a flexible and robust multiple access scheme for downlink multi-antenna wireless networks. First, we derive a lower bound on the ergodic sum-rate of RSMA for an arbitrary number of transmit antennas, number of users, user speeds and transmit power.

Is Noma efficient in multi antenna networks a critical look at next generation multiple access techniques?

The first takeaway message is that, while NOMA is not beneficial in most multi-antenna deployments. The second takeaway message is that other non-orthogonal transmission frameworks, such as RS, exist which fully exploit the multiplexing gain and the benefits of SIC to boost the rate in multi-antenna settings.

What is RSMA (RSMA)?

RSMA is a more general and more powerful multiple access for downlink multi-antenna systems that contains SDMA and NOMA as special cases. RSMA relies on linearly precoded rate-splitting with SIC to decode part of the interference and treat the remaining part of the interference as noise.

Is rate-splitting more powerful than Noma and SDMA/MU-MIMO?

Rate-Splitting as a more general and powerful strategy than NOMA and SDMA/MU-MIMO with linear precoding: Y. Mao, B. Clerckx and V.O.K. Li, “Rate-Splitting Multiple Access for Downlink Communication Systems: Bridging, Generalizing and Outperforming SDMA and NOMA,” EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2018. 14.

Does RSMA work with imperfect channel state information at transmitter (CSIT)?

READ:   When should you not use minoxidil?

RSMA relies on multi-antenna Rate-Splitting (RS) at the transmitter and Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) at the receivers. In this work, we study the performance of RSMA under the practical important setup of imperfect Channel State Information at Transmitter (CSIT) originating from user mobility and latency in the network.

What is spacespace-division multiple access?

Space-division multiple access (SDMA) utilizes linear precoding to separate users in the spatial domain and relies on fully treating any residual multi-user interference as noise.
