IMO Blu-ray makes a big difference, however it does depend on your setup. If you sit far from your tv the difference is less. In my setup, a 40″ 1080p at about 8 feet I notice a huge difference in quality between SD and HD. Also, the colors are so much better because now we have 1 billion colors instead of 16.7 million.
