What is the architecture of a game?

Game architecture, on the other hand, is how it is built. Within the software industry in general, the term design usually refers to what I call architecture in this book. Within the game development industry, however, Game Designers create the game design and Game Programmers create the game architecture.

Can an architect work in video games?

There are a lot of skills which architects and designers are trained in through school and work which become applicable to VR and video gaming projects. An example would be to look at a VR company like Oculus where they employ people just to design VR spaces for demonstrations.

The original version of Minecraft is written in Java, because that’s what Notch chose to write it in. (The game does use the Lightweight Java Game Library to interface with “native” libraries such as OpenGL, so it’s not “pure” Java.)
