What is the difference between UPSC and state PCS?

An IAS officer is recruited and posted by UPSC while a PCS officer is recruited and posted by respective state Govt. An IAS officer is posted all over India while a PCS officer is posted within its respective state cadres.

What is the difference between civil services and UPSC?

Civil Services are jobs directly related to public service and are widely considered prestigious in India. UPSC conducts Civil Service Exams for Central Government job vacancies while PSC in each state fills the State Government job vacancies. These services include IAS, IFS, IPS etc.
