The Quraysh (Arabic: قُرَيْشٌ‎, Hejazi pronunciation: [qʊrajʃ]) are a mercantile Arab tribal confederation that historically inhabited and controlled the city of Mecca and its Ka’ba. The Islamic prophet Muhammad was born into the Hashim clan of the tribe.
