What kind of wine is Chateau Haut Brion?

Château Haut Brion Blanc is one of Bordeaux’s greatest dry white wines, equivalent to top-flight grand cru white Burgundy. It offers a complexity that merges the fresh fruitiness of Sauvignon with the creamy mellowness of Semillon.

What is the difference between Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion?

Haut Brion and its sister property, La Mission, made excellent reds with fine acidity and complexity, many aromas (violets) and a long aftertaste. As usual, Haut Brion was more concentrated and longer than La Mission, but La Mission was more elegant and noble than Haut Brion.

When to drink Haut Brion?

Young vintages can be decanted for 2-4 hours or more. This allows the wine to soften and open its perfume. Older vintages might need very little decanting, just enough to remove the sediment. Chateau Haut Brion offers its best drinking and should reach peak maturity between 15-50 years of age after the vintage.
