“Around the ninth hour, Jesus shouted in a loud voice, saying ‘Eli Eli lema sabachthani? ‘ which is, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? ‘” (Matthew 27:46). The quote in Mark is almost identical with the Aramaic phrase, written as “Eloi Eloi lama sabachthani?” (15:34).
