Does USAMO help college admissions?
Qualify for the Math Olympiad If you do well enough on the AIME, chances are very good that you will qualify for the USA Math Olympiad (USAMO). The truth is that even taking the AIME will make your application shine in university admissions offices.
Is AMC important for MIT?
MIT usually has about 20,000 applicants a year, so you can bet that having the best SAT score will NOT make you stand out. Another reason the AMC is so important is that the top schools now explicitly ask for AMC scores (not required).
How many USAMO qualifiers are there?
In 2020, due to grading constraints caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, lower numbers of students were admitted (223 USAMO qualifiers and 158 USAJMO qualifiers). To increase the limited pool of female students for team selection, females received a lower cutoff than males.

How prestigious is qualifying for AIME?
Actually, 85\% of our students qualified for the AIME. The other 15\% of our students came extremely close to qualifying. All of their hard work paid off! We are extremely proud of our students’ great achievements and wish them well in the AIME and USAJMO/USAMO!
How many times can you take the AIME?
Unlike the AMC 10 and the AMC 12, you can only take the AIME once per qualification. So while you can take the AMC 10 or AMC 12 multiple times to qualify, once you qualify, you’ve only got one shot at the AIME.

Students taking the AMC 12 A, or AMC 12 B plus the AIME II need a USAMO index of 229.0 or higher to qualify for the USAMO. Students taking the AMC 10 A, or AMC 10 B plus the AIME I need a JMO index of 213.0 or higher to qualify for the JMO.
