What resolution should a phone camera be?

If you’re going to sell your photos or make large prints and posters, then even a phone camera with 12 or 16 megapixels or more will work well for you. But these days primary phone cameras generally have more megapixels than that. In my opinion, smartphones don’t need to have 40 or more megapixels.

What is good resolution for a photo?

In many cases, the best resolution for printing is 300 PPI. At 300 pixels per inch (which roughly translates to 300 DPI, or dots per inch, on a printing press), an image will appear sharp and crisp. These are considered to be high resolution, or high-res, images.

What is high resolution photo on phone?

High-resolution images must have at least 300 pixels per inch (or 300 dpi). For print publications, 300 dpi/PPI is the minimum size that must be used. Whether you send it to a designer or do it yourself, the image has to be converted from 72 dpi to 300 dpi. Otherwise when the image prints, it will be pixelated.

What is good megapixels for a camera?

A camera with 10-20 megapixels is going to, in most cases, be more than capable of meeting all your needs. You’d be served far better by saving money on your camera and investing in better lenses. On the other hand, high-megapixel cameras are exceptionally useful to many, but not all, commercial photographers.

What image size should I use on my camera?

In digital cameras settings, it’s normal to see photos full frame at 1080×720. This is typically the most popular set of dimensions for photographers to shoot within. The ratio of 3:2 allows for a good amount of room for cropping in post-processing as well if needed.

Does my phone take 300 dpi photos?

It’s up to you or to the screen, application or printer to use them as 720, 300, 200 or 72 dpi. 300 dpi is often a requirement for high-quality prints. So if your iPhone picture is 3024 x 4032 pixels, you can print it on approx. 10 x 13 inch at 300 dpi.

Most smartphone camera apps allow you to set the megapixel count of each shot, so if you’re using a phone with fixed storage, like an iPhone of any generation or one of Google’s Pixel phones, turning the resolution down on your shots can be a great way to save local storage space.
