What should I bring to my first BJJ tournament?

White belt tournament checklist

  • Wear a good condition IBJJF legal gi and belt.
  • Bring a spare gi and extra no gi clothing.
  • Bring a water bottle.
  • Pack small snacks.
  • Pack your mouthguard.
  • Bring a change of clothes.
  • Bring some headphones.
  • Warm up effectively.

How much does it cost to enter a Jiu Jitsu tournament?

The cost for competing in a BJJ event can range widely. Expect to pay around $20-$50 for smaller tournaments and as much as $100+ for IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) sanctioned tournaments. For IBJJF tournaments you will also be required to pay the annual membership fee of around $40.

How does a BJJ match start?
