What size breaker does a 220v need?

30 – 40 Amp breaker
For 220v welders, you will need at least 30 – 40 Amp breaker, and for smaller 115v welders, you will need at least 20 – 30 Amp breaker.

This is one small electrical box! It holds two Square D type QO breakers (2 singles, not 1 double). After some preforming of the wires, I was able to get two breakers installed and 2 neutral wires and 2 ground wires. Mine did include the ground/neutral buss unlike those that were mentioned in the previous comments.
