What tension do pro badminton players use?

Player Ability:

  • Beginner – 17lbs-20lbs.
  • Intermediate – 20lbs-24lbs.
  • Advanced – 24lbs-27lbs.
  • Professional – 27lbs – 30+lbs.

What string tension Do pros use?

Typical tensions range from around 40-65lbs, but most players’ tensions fall well within that range of extremes! Generally speaking, professional stringers tend to advise players to string their rackets as low as possible whilst still being able to maintain control of the ball.

Is 30 lbs tension good for badminton racket?

30 lbs is usually only used by professionals / tournament players. Beginners should have 19- 25 lbs and intermediate – advanced players should be around 25 – 29 lbs. The higher the string tension, the more powerful your shots will become only if you hit the “sweet spot”.

Gutting is just a Badminton term for restringing your racquet. Often used when buying a new racquet, the seller might ask if you want it “gutted” which means to take the strings out and replace them with your own choice. So it’s just a term for restringing your racquet.

30 Tension means that each line of string in your racket was pulled with a 30 lbs or 13.6 Kg force when it was strung. That is a tremendous amount of force, considering that there are around 72–76 holes in most badminton rackets, and around 22 Vertical and 22 horizontal lines of string.

What happens if you string a badminton racquet too tight?

Injuries from incorrect string tension in badminton are far more common among those who string rackets too tightly. These players may lack the proper technique and ability to play with such tensions. As a result, they notice that they have a lack of power in their shots.

What string tension should I string my tennis racket?

For example if you are stringing a racket at 30lbs you would string the main strings at 30lbs and the cross strings at 33lbs. This is why some players ask for different tensions on the cross strings, to make sure of this. Some players may choose slightly less than 10\%, others may choose more.

How much string tension should I play at?

For the majority of players, between 20lbs and 30lbs is normal between a range of beginners to advanced players, including some professionals. A mistake is to assume that the professionals play at a higher string tension, therefore, it must be the better option.
