What was the purpose of Agni Pariksha?

When Rama doubts Sita’s chastity, she undergoes a trial by fire (Agni Pariksha). Sita enters a burning pyre declaring that if she has been faithful to Rama let the fire not harm her; she comes out unscathed with the fire-god Agni as proof of her purity.

Why Sita Mata had to give Agni Pariksha?

Sita is known for her dedication, self-sacrifice, courage, and purity. After the war, in some versions of the epic, Rama asks Sita to undergo Agni Pariksha (an ordeal of fire) by which she proves her purity before she is accepted by Rama, which for the first time makes his brother Lakshmana get angry at him.

Did Sita give Agni Pariksha twice?

The Fire God then rescued her and hence she came out unburnt.
