Two-dimensional computer-generated wire frame or mesh renderings replaced drafting boards as CAD crept into the auto industry in the late 60s and early ’70s. Between 1970 and 1980 surface and solid modeling was introduced, and 3-D CAD wire frames came on the scene in the early ’80s.
