MOBI files are only readable in the proprietary Amazon Kindle application. Versatility: PDF files can be edited, saved and converted into an array of different formats, such as Word, Excel, PDF, JPG, HTML, GIF and more. MOBI supports reflowable content, which resizes the text according to the device.

Is AZW3 better than EPUB?

No. The EPUB 3 format is more sophisticated than the AZW3 format so it would be degraded slightly. If an EPUB file is converted to Mobi then the result contains both an AZW3 file AND a MOBI file (for older Kindles). That means it is almost twice the file size.
