While in Xiakou, Liu Bei sent Zhuge Liang to follow Lu Su to Jiangdong to discuss the formation of an alliance between him and Sun Quan, and Liang managed to have a meeting with Sun Quan in Chaisang. Zhuge Liang, being able to gauge Sun Quan’s personality, decided to provoke Sun Quan by telling Sun just to surrender if he could not resist Cao Wei.
