Who is CBT not effective for?

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is ineffective for the treatment and prevention of relapses of many psychiatric disorders, particularly schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression, new research has found.

Is CBT bad for autism?

Research has shown that CBT has a positive effect on children with autism. This is because children on the autism spectrum are more likely to internalize their thoughts and feelings. CBT channels these internalized thoughts into more positive outlooks, which will ideally positively affect the child’s behavior.

Can CBT make you feel worse?

You may also be getting therapy from someone with little to no credentials. The bottom line is that a medical professional or therapist who says he or she does cognitive behavioral therapy tells you nothing about their training, education, or ability to help you. Be wary.
