Who talks to Ventus at the beginning of BBS?

The voice at the start of Ventus’ story is a newly born Sora. The voice who talks to Sora in KH1 is Mickey.

Ventus is sent to the Dive to the Heart, where he comes in contact with the heart of a young Sora. After a brief discussion, his heart connects with Sora’s, mending the damage and allowing Ven to stay alive until he someday becomes strong enough to repair the damage by himself.

Who is Ventus in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep?

He was a Keyblade wielder before Sora ever became one, and was apprenticed to both Xehanort and Eraqus. He is the youngest of the trio formed by himself, Terra and Aqua.

For example, in the opening video, Ventus is shown falling through a Station of the Dive to the Heart due to the Kingdom Key and Soul Eater shattering the pillar, in a similar way to how Sora and Roxas fall from shattered Stations at the beginning of their games.

Why did Xehanort give Ventus his heart?

Due to Ventus’s reluctance to use darkness, Xehanort extracts it from his heart and creates Vanitas, damaging his heart in the process. Xehanort brings Ventus to the Destiny Islands, where his heart connects with that of a newborn Sora to keep it from collapsing.
