Amit Das Hi, BJTs are faster than MOSFETs due to the capacitances at the junctions of MOSFETs are produced by the metal, substrate, and oxide layer.

Why MOS is preferred over BJT?

Mosfet provides very good isolation between Gate and other two terminals as compared to BJT. Mosfet can handle more power as compared to BJT. Mosfet has very low switiching power loss and high speed. Voltage signals can easily operate a MOSFET hence it is used in many digital circuits.

Do BJTs consume more power than MOSFETs?

MOSFET is usually more efficient switches for power supplies. BJT will consume more power because it’s wasting current when it’s switch on. Also the BJT generally has a 0.3v voltage drop in the input pin, and it takes a lot of base current to do that. Transistors are often connected together to form useful circuits.

Which is faster MOSFET or JFET?

For switching applications where the collector/drain voltage has to go close to zero and back up, MOSFET will be faster, since in case of a BJT there will be minority carrier storage in the base in saturation which will take time to flush out. 3.

A BJT has three terminals namely base, emitter, and collector, while a MOSFET has three terminals namely source, drain, and gate. BJT’s are used for low current applications, whereas MOSFET is used for high power applications.

Why MOSFETs are more popular than JFET?

MOSFETs have input impedance much higher than that of JFETs. This is due to negligibly small leakage current. JFETs have characteristic curves more flat than those of MOSFETs indicating a higher drain resistance. Thus MOSFET devices are more useful in electrometer applications than are the JFETs.

Is Mosfet better than BJT?

BJTs are much more suitable than MOSFETs for driving low-power LEDs and similar devices from MCUs. MOSFETs are better for high-power applications because they can switch faster than BJTs, enabling them to use smaller inductors in switch-mode supplies, which increases efficiency.
