Why do artists put singles on albums?

Songs released as lead singles are usually to showcase how the era of the singers music will be. When an album is released, it typically has atleast 1–3 songs become singles, thought often enough, as much as 4–5 singles can succeed an album.

What is a filler on an album?

Filler is material of lower cost or quality that is used to fill a certain television time slot or physical medium, such as a music album.

Why do artists keep unreleased songs?

The most common way is the artist or producer leaks it themselves as a gift to the fans, to get some buzz around a particular project or to show off a track that otherwise would go unused and unheard. Sometimes engineers or other personnel who worked on the song leak it, be them disgruntled, unpaid or just a jerk.

Why do albums have filler songs?

Often times they are songs or versions of songs that were recorded in the making of an album but didn’t make the final cut because of a running time issue, or because they simply didn’t fit the story/sound arc of the album. Sometimes they’re outtakes and included in rereleases as an oddity for the more loyal listeners.

What does filler mean in music?

Filler is a term that is over used. It implies that an artist is deliberately putting sub standard material on their album to pad out the tracklist. Happens sometimes, but usually when people say it they are really saying that they just don’t happen to like certain tracks.

What are fillers in songs called?

Filler songs are actually intended to be such by the artist. Filler are songs that a band just rushes through without any real dedication or inspiration, just to meet a deadline for an albums release, or to quickly capitalize on a hit or to literally fill up space, hence the word Filler.

Why do artists albums get leaked?

Sometimes someone involved in the production will leak it. Sometimes it will be leaked by someone who got a pre-release copy of the album (a reviewer, record store, etc). Sometimes the artist or their record labels will “leak” it themselves, to increase buzz.

Why do artists not label music releases?

There are many reasons why a label goes cold on an act: the person who signed them might have been sacked, leaving them without a champion; they might not have delivered a record that’s good enough; or the label might have been bought by a bigger company (which is what happened to me).
