Why do my earphones only work when I press the button?

The reason is your phone might have a 3 pin audio jack and the earphones are 4 pin. By pins I mean the space between the black rings you see around the audio jack. The placements for mic, l speaker and r speaker are different for 4 pin and 3 pin plugs, hence your phone and earbuds aren’t compatible.

Why do my headphones only work when I twist them?

Headsets may play only in one ear depending on your audio settings. So check your audio properties and make sure that the mono option is turned off. In addition, make sure that voice levels are balanced on both earbuds. The voice levels must be equal on both sides of your headset.
