Why do people use idle on Discord?

On Discord, “Idle” status usually means that the user has Discord open on their computer or web browser but hasn’t looked at it in a while. If you want to manually change your status so you appear idle while still browsing Discord, you can do so by tapping your profile picture and changing your status.

How do you AFK in Discord?

Create an AFK channel in Discord

  1. Log into your Discord server as usual.
  2. Select the server at the top to access the Server Settings menu.
  3. Select Create Channel.
  4. Set text or voice as usual and name it AFK or something meaningful.
  5. Save your new channel.
  6. Under Overview, select your new AFK Channel from the center pane.

What does Invisible do on Discord?

If you’re using the Invisible status for a little privacy, you will appear Offline. A prominent feature in Discord, the Invisible setting will allow you to play your games or perform various tasks undisturbed while staying in the loop with conversations and updates.

  2. Click on the emoji to add an emoji to your custom status.
  3. Type your custom status, then click the Clear After menu to choose a time frame.

Users can set this to let others know if they are available or not. After a user has been inactive for around 5 minutes, Discord will automatically set the users status to Idle which means that the user hasn’t used Discord for a while and might be busy or AFK (Away From KeyBoard).
