Why do places at the same latitude but different latitudes have different climates?

Places at the same latitude may have very different climates if one is on a coast and one is inland. On the coast, the climate is influenced by warm moist air from the ocean. Farther inland, the climate is influenced by cold or hot air from the land. This air may be dry, because it comes from over land.

Why do two places located at same latitude and different altitude show different temper?

Explanation: In the same latitude, cities are closer to the equator and closer to the poles they cause mainly to a different temperature. The temperature of the two cities has the same latitude but they will vary to the higher latitude to the other.

Why do different locations have different air temperatures?

There are differences in climate around the world because of differing amounts of radiation received from the Sun at different parts of the Earth at different times of the year. More heat from the Sun is received near the equator than near the north and south poles where the angle of the Sun’s rays is lower.

How does latitude affect the climate of a place?

Latitude affects the temperature of a place. The places situated at higher altitudes which are far from equator receive less sunlight and places which are located towards the equator which is a 00 latitude receives more sunlight and are hotter than the places located at higher latitudes.

How does the windward side differ from the leeward side?

An island’s windward side faces the prevailing, or trade, winds, whereas the island’s leeward side faces away from the wind, sheltered from prevailing winds by hills and mountains. Thus, an island’s windward side is wetter and more verdant than its drier leeward side.

Why do climate zones differ between continents even though locations are similar?

A climate zone depends on a region’s latitude, continental position, and relationship to prevailing winds, large water bodies, and mountains, among other factors. The temperature, rainfall, length of dry season, and other features of the climate zone determine which plants can grow.

What is the relationship between latitude and altitude in terms of biomes?

Explanation: Biomes are determined primarily by temperature and precipitation. Generally speaking, biomes at higher latitudes (further away from the equator) are cooler and drier. Closer to the equator, biomes are generally warmer and wetter, as warmer air holds more moisture than colder air.

What is the relationship between elevation and climate?

Usually, as elevation increases, the weather gets colder and the climate becomes harsher (more intense weathering: windier and colder). There is also less air as elevation increases. As elevation decreases on land that most live on, the climate gets warmer as well as more humid.

How does latitude affect ocean temperatures?

At low latitudes, near the equator, direct overhead sunlight received all year warms surface waters. At high latitudes, ocean waters receive less sunlight – the poles receive only 40 percent of the heat that the equator does. This results in less warming of the water.

Why do regions have different climates during the same seasons?

The different kinds of weather you might experience in these regions are caused by moving patterns in the Earth’s atmospheric and oceanic circulation, unequal heating of the Earth, and the rotation of the Earth on its tilted axis.

Why is latitude important to climate?

Many factors influence the climate of a region. The most important factor is latitude because different latitudes receive different amounts of solar radiation. Sunlight filters through a thick wedge of atmosphere, making the sunlight much less intense.

How does the latitude of an area affect the controls of weather and climate?

Latitude is a fundamental control on every climate. It affects temperature by influencing the seasonal range in solar intensity. It influences precipitation in as much as evaporation is temperature dependent.
