Why do some of my Blu Rays not play?

There are several reasons a disc may not play in the Blu-ray player. A dirty or scratched disc is the most obvious cause, but an incorrect region code or configuration of your home theater system can be the reason as well. Whether you’re having trouble with 4K or 3D, Blu-ray or DVD, there is a fix.

Why do only some DVDs not play?

Blu-Rays will only play on machines that are designed to play Blu-Ray discs. They will not play on a normal DVD player since they are not DVDs. The lasers used to read Blu-Rays are different from the ones used to read DVDs so that is why a DVD player will not play Blu-Rays.

Why do some DVDs not play on my TV?

Ensure the video cable between the DVD player and TV is securely connected to both devices. NOTE: If the issue only occurs with the first DVD, then the disc may have dust, fingerprints or scratches. When you hit stop, or turn off the player, the Java application on the disc reboots in the next playback. This results in resuming playback from the beginning of the disc. Therefore you should use pause instead of stop for Blu-ray disc that supports BD-J application.
