Why do torrents stop midway?

It’s because there is no seeder, at least not one you can connect to. A torrent seeder is someone who has the complete download but if there’s no seeder online then the leechers are left sharing their incomplete downloads.

Why do torrents suddenly stop downloading?

This means either the number of seeders are low as trackers have gone offline or there’s firewall preventing trackers from connecting. In the settings options of your torrent client search for connections or protocol encryption and set it to only encrypted mode.
