Why does my radio go off when I start my car?

Why do new cars turn off at stops?

The concept of the stop-start system is simple. It automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is at rest to cut fuel use and eliminate idle emissions. It then restarts the engine automatically when the driver lifts off the brake (or puts in the clutch to select 1st gear) to get going again.

Is accessory mode bad for your car?

Turning the key to the “accessory” position doesn’t actually draw any electricity from the battery. It simply allows you to draw a limited amount of electricity to run certain accessories, like the radio, the power windows and the interior lights. And that would certainly be enough to kill the battery in 48 hours.
